Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born 12 November 1961. She was the first Romanian who scored a total of 10 at the Olympic sport. Bela Karolyi was later Romanian Gymnastics Coach discovered Comaneci in the age of seven years old. Comaneci competed for the first time at the national junior championships and finished 13th. After that she won the title of champion. At her first international event in 1972 at a pre-Olympic Junior meeting for communist countries she took home three golds while in 1973 and 1974 she was an all-around junior champion. She beat the Russian Lyudmila Torishcheva, the five-time European champion, at her first senior international competition held in the year 1975. She won four golds and a silver. She won the American Cup in New York City in 1976 and became the first woman in history to complete the backward double salto in a dismount from the uneven parallel bars. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. When she was in her teens, she began performing in touring shows like Ice Capades as a skater as well as her younger sibling Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne is a United States citizen, born on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. Carol began her professional career as an entertainer in her teens. Early on, Carol began as a figure skater in traveling shows Ice Capades with her sister Nina Wayne. These shows were ice skating and included theatre performances.
